Get out and ride some hills. The Thonotosassa area has long been known as a cycling destination for those in the Tampa and Brandon area. It provides hilly rural roads just a stones throw from your urban compound. That being about 11 miles for me. Some caution should be exercised getting out past 56th street. There are narrow roads and some navigating through Sulphur Springs. After that it's smooth sailing. One additional word of caution is the truck traffic on 579. There's ample shoulder but lots of Southeastern Freight traffic due to their headquarters on 301 and 579.
Don't let the warnings deter you if you're looking for some new routes. This is easily one of my favorite solo rides in the area. Enjoy!
